In Loving Memory of Anna M. Sapio
January 1949 – May 26,2024

On Sunday, May 26, 2024, Anna M. Sapio, passed away at HCA Healthcare Hospital in Sun City, Florida. After saying her goodbyes to her loved ones she peacefully passed away at the age of seventy-five.

Anna will always be remembered for her love of youth bowling and her relentless volunteer work with Greater Tampa Bay, USBC.  She moved to Florida with her parents, Frank and Eleanor Sapio, in 1992, from Buffalo, New York. Later that year she joined Jeff and Bill Boje’ as the youth and senior director at Brandon Crossroads Bowl.  Over the next eighteen years she is credited with building one of the top youth bowling programs in the nation.  In addition, she built a bus and bowl program that brought thousands of children into the center on a weekly basis, getting to know each of them by name.  In 2010, she elected to go to work at The Alley at Southshore, also owned by the Boje’ family, on Big Bend Road in Riverview, Florida.  For her final fourteen years she again worked her magic as only she could, by building a robust youth program there as well.

Anna somehow always managed to remember so many details, sending birthday wishes and even work anniversaries for countless people over the years.  Her attention to detail, tireless effort, deep loyalty, and dedication are a few of the things that she will best be remembered for.

I personally will never forget the day I interviewed her so many years ago.  I knew right then that she would become one of the most beloved people in my life.  While it may sound like a cliché, she was truly the “Wind Beneath my Wings” for nearly thirty-two years.  My wife, Sherrie, along with our five children were greatly blessed to have Anna as part of our lives for so many years.

The entire staff and management of Brandon Crossroads Bowl, The Alley at Southshore, and even our center in St. Louis, Sunset Lanes, have all been touched by Anna throughout the years.  She loved many of them dearly, bringing so much to each of them and enriching their lives.

A memorial service is scheduled for June 11, 2024, between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m., at Serenity Meadows Memorial Park Funeral Home located at 6919 Providence Road, Riverview, Florida 33578.

In Anna’s honor, we plan to establish an annual youth scholarship tournament in her name.  Details will be forthcoming.

Sincerely,

The Ownership, Management, and Staff: Brandon Crossroads Bowl, The Alley at SouthShore, Sunset Lanes.
